Should A
Christian
The peskiest cult in America, these Jehovah Witnesses over the years have consistently predicted the date of the Second Coming; consistently predicted it wrong, that is. They predicted he'd come back in 1914, when that didn't work out, they changed it to 1925. That year came and went, and eventually they pegged their hopes on 1975. As far as I recall, the only big news item that did a "return" that year was President Nixon returned to normal life having resigned the presidency. You would think that due to all these FALSE PROPHECIES that there wouldn't be any JW's left around anymore. You would think that people would have enough common sense to know they've been lied to, deceived, and then do something about it. You would think... but then again, the operative word here is THINK. YOU would think, religionists DON'T- and that is why JW's have ignored the failed prophecies in their own literature just as much as regular Christians have ignored the myriads of failed prophecies within their own New Testament. There are dozens and dozens of crystal clear, and some not so clear, prophecies within the New Testament that predicted Jesus would return before the end of the 1st century- within the lifetime of Jesus' Apostles. Yet in spite of these FALSE PROPHECIES the religion marches on. The lesson in all this? Never underestimate the ability of religious people to blind themselves to faults within their own religion.
From the Jehovah Witnesses' Own Translation of The Old Testament} However, the prophet who presumes to speak in my name a word that I have not commanded him to speak... that prophet must die. ...How shall we know the word that Jehovah has not spoken? When the prophet speaks in the name of Jehovah and the word does not occur or come true, that is the word that Jehovah did not speak.12
